Lasting change seems impossible. You are not alone.

How can you break out of long held patterns, deeply held beliefs about what is right or proper, or even promises you made in the past in order to find who you really are?

Being you can feel painful and yet you don't know another way to be. You don't want to just ditch everything you know and start fresh...but it seems like there aren't many choices.

You may have even tried counseling or therapy, or support groups in the past, yet you still feel frustrated, caught or it's moving painfully slow. And now you feel even more hopeless. Can anything really change?

The short answer is YES. Things can change. YOU can change.

Before that however, it would be helpful to recognize that what you resist, persists. Whether or not you have chosen to remain with your patterns of behavior and beliefs, or if you have tried diligently to remove them from your psyche and your life, these troubles persist much like a pesky beetle that prefers a tasty tree.

It's important to give yourself a break no matter what state you find yourself in. This means judging is not useful! No matter how many beetles are on the gorgeous tree, it is still a gorgeous tree and needs loving attention..

It is possible to change your patterns, change how you feel about yourself, and find joy in who you are and those you love. It may not be an easy journey, and it will likely take some diligence on your part to face your fears head on, but with the right kind of support and guidance, you can do amazing things.

I have had my own experience with personal challenges like these, and traveled the road for what seems like a long time, locked in pain and helplessness. I finally found the key to unlock my heart I when I attended a workshop nine years ago called "Opening your heart to the Love" by Dr. Robert Jaffe of the University of Spiritual Healing and Sufism (formerly Jaffe Institute). It was there that I learn a Sufi healing practice Remembrance and realized that a wound from my past could be healed in my heart and that I could shift to a clearer perspective on the issue as well as see the part I played in it too - ouch! From this new place, I no longer felt the same about the situation. Another good thing that was made clear is now I have this passion to help others on their similar yet unique journey, and seeing the hearts of others blossom with joy.
